Beginners Scratch, LEGO® WeDo®, Micro:Bit, and Codey Rocky! (For ages 7 - 9) - Scratch is an amazing program developed at MIT that teaches kids how to code using colorful drag and drop blocks while LEGO® WeDo® takes building with LEGO® to a whole new level with programmable motors and sensors that bring projects to life! When you combine Scratch with LEGO® WeDo® you get one amazing interactive learning experience! In this hands-on workshop, kids will build mechanical animals, smart cars, drawbridges and more plus we now have even more new projects just in time for this Fall!
Kids will learn how to control their projects with their own custom Scratch dashboard complete with animated buttons and sliders to make their creations move, turn, speed up, slow down, reverse, and stop! We will also be creating all new games in Scratch. In this workshop, kids don't only learn to code, but learn how to create games complete with animations, scoring, special effects and more! These skills can be practiced at home and games can be shared with family and friends on Scratch's online community. To learn more about Scratch, visit https://scratch.mit.edu/
But wait there's more...
We believe it is important for kids to learn to code across many different platforms as it is crucial to be adaptable in our ever-changing world...so we also added Codey Rocky
robots to our Saturday morning workshops. Students explore how to code motors and sensors with fun challenges and projects through this amazing little robot companion! You can learn more about Codey Rocky here - https://www.makeblock.com/steam-kits/codey-rocky
Our Saturday morning workshop is great for both beginners as well as kids who have experienced Scratch and LEGO® WeDo® in our camps and workshops. It is also great for kids who have tried Scratch and want to learn more! We always have exciting new projects for all levels of building and coding!
