Dr. Kunyoung Kim, piano

Dr. Kunyoung Kim has extensive experience both as a performer and as a teacher. She was invited to perform the Rachmaninoff Second Concerto with the Russian Federal Orchestra at the Great Hall in Moscow and has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Kennedy Center for the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Mozart Festival, as well as in various universities and concert halls in Austria, Korea, Thailand, Russia, and the United States.
 
Dr. Kim has studied piano performance and pedagogy with many internationally-known teachers, including Santiago Rodriguez, Nelita True, Fernando Laires, Michael Krist, and Paul Badura-Skoda.
 
Besides her studies at the Moscow Conservatory, she holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College, a Master of Music from the University of Maryland, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music where she was the assistant to Professor Fernando Laires and also taught for three years as a teaching assistant for secondary piano lessons.
Dr. Kim has over 10 years of collegiate teaching experience as a piano faculty at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, Ithaca College, and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
 
Over the years, Dr. Kim has adjudicated numerous piano competitions both at regional and international levels and her students have won top prizes in competitions in both levels. She is an active member of Music Teachers National Association and her students participate regularly participate in recitals, competitions and festivals.
