Your Prior Student Loan Debt

Have you borrowed student loans prior to attending UNE?

 *
Please be advised that the aggregate maximum for federal education loan debt is $138,500 for graduate students and $224,000 for medical (D.O.), dental (DMD) and Pharmacy (PharmD) students.  This includes any outstanding Stafford Loans borrowed for undergraduate and/or graduate school.  Students who reach their aggregate limit while enrolled in UNE will need to find other sources to fund their educational expenses.

Additional Information

Because a portion of your award may be in the form of Graduate PLUS Loans (credit based loan funding), the Financial Aid Office recommends that students request a copy of their credit report to verify that there are no issues that would prevent the student from obtaining a credit based loan, if needed.  Please visit out web site at www.une.edu/financialaid for additional information.  Students are also encouraged to pay off any consumer debt, as financial aid is not available to cover those expenses.  If you are denied a Graduate PLUS Loan and do not have an endorser with satisfactory credit, there is not additional funding available through the Financial Aid Office to fill this need.
A student’s cost of attendance is based on allowable educational expenses for the student while enrolled at UNE.  Your cost of attendance will include allowances for the student’s living expenses (rent, food, utilities, transportation and personal) while enrolled in the program.  The Financial Aid Office can only consider the student’s expenses, not the expenses for a spouse and/or children.
