Please Note The Following Procedures And Notes:

  1. Transfers are granted on a one year (school year) basis.
  2. No bus transportation is provided when you transfer to a school outside of your home school attendance area.
  3. If the student-teacher ratio allowable by WV Code is exceeded, transfer students must return to their respective home schools.
  4. Transfer students must observe school rules and regulations and attend school regularly; refusal to do so may result in having their transfer status rescinded.
  5. An out of county transfer request requires proof of release from the student's home county BOE and copies of the following: grades, attendance history, and discipline records. Monongalia County BOE must approve entrance into Monongalia County. If Monongalia County BOE approves, there is no guarantee of placement into the school requested.
  6. Note: A moratorium is currently in place on out of county transfers for grade levels Pre-K - 6.
  7. Transfer students are subject to the rules and regulations of the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission.
  8. Transfer requests may be submitted between April 1 st through June 30th, prior to the next school year. Applications outside of this window will require documentation of extenuating circumstances.

The Following Are Required To Complete This Application:

  1. Student name, grade, and physical residence address (no P.O. Box, etc.)
  2. Parent/guardian name, mailing address, contact phone and email.
  3. Documentation of legal guardianship, if applicable (may be submitted electronically or to the MCS Atttendance Office).
  4. information on any student truancy proceedings, suspensions, and/or expulsions.

For new transfer applicants, the following information is needed. It can be submitted electronically with this form or to the MCS Attendance Office.

  1. Current student grade report (This will be pulled for you if the student is a current Monongalia County Schools student. Otherwise, please obtain and provide one from the student's current school.)
  2. Name of your home attendance school's principal or designee with whom you have discussed this transfer, and the date on which this discussion occurred. (Please use to find your home attendance school if you are not sure.)
