2019-2020 Academic Year

All students enrolled at the American Hebrew Academy shall conform to procedures adopted by the Dean of Students office whenever seeking to leave campus.  Permission to leave campus shall be subject to the consent of the Students’ Parents/Guardian as set forth herein.  Parents/Guardians may modify the consent provided herein from time to time by providing written notice to the Dean of Students.  The signature of the Parent/Guardian shall serve as authorization for the Academy to grant permission for your child to leave campus in accordance with the terms set forth herein. 

Leaving Campus for non-Academy Sponsored Activities
(Independent trips off campus):

Students permitted to leave campus without an adult chaperone must follow the procedures below.  Students found at off-campus locations not otherwise approved shall be subject to disciplinary action.

To leave campus each student must follow these procedures:

Day Trips

  1. All students shall provide information on destination, estimated departure and return time, with whom s/he is leaving and emergency phone contact.                                                                    
  2. Seniors may leave campus without further approval after providing required information and in accordance with applicable rules.  This privilege may be suspended or revoked for cause.

Overnights (in addition to the above rules)

  1. All students shall request permission from one of his/her House Team members or the Shomer at least 3 hours in advance. House Parents/Shomer has the discretion to withhold permission for cause. Overnights are not permitted on school nights.

  2. A parent or legal guardian must contact one of the student’s House Team members or the Shomer (by phone with a follow-up email confirmation) in order for permission for the overnight to be granted.

  3. If the student is not staying with an adult family member or legal guardian, the adult who is hosting the student must notify one of the visiting student’s House Team members or the Shomer (by phone with a follow-up email) in order for permission for the overnight to be granted.  This is to confirm that the student is an invited guest of the hosting adult.

With respect to day trips and overnight visits, any activity planned involving 5 or more students shall be deemed a “Non-Sponsored Group Activity” which shall require additional parental consent on a case-by-case basis and an adult chaperone.  All students enrolled at the American Hebrew Academy shall conform to procedures adopted by the Dean of Students office whenever seeking to leave campus.  Permission to leave campus shall be subject to the consent of the student’s parents/guardians as set forth herein.
