Thank you for your interest in registering for the webinar "Implementing a Trauma Informed Approach to Residency Education" which will be held Thursday, July 11, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT.

This webinar will use the framework of a Trauma Informed Approach developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration to evaluate current residency practices and collaboratively discuss how to apply these principles in the day-to-day function of GME. This webinar will discuss the prevalence of traumatic events, understand the definition of trauma, review the neurobiology of trauma, understand and identify the impact of trauma on function, and discuss how to approach a person who has been affected by an event. Presenters will define and propose solutions to support a safe learning environments by prioritizing resident autonomy, self-efficacy and interconnectedness and will re-frame resident and faculty behaviors through a Trauma Informed lens. The webinar also review administrative practices and evaluate how they may impact the residency programs and individual trainees.
