AP chemistry teaching resources are an important member benefit of AACT. Currently we are looking for new and unique ideas related to select AP Topics and Learning Objectives to help grow the AP section of the AACT classroom resource library.
During the months of November and December, we invite teachers to submit an original AP chemistry teaching resource idea that you have designed for publishing in the AACT Classroom Resource Library. During this timeframe, teachers can submit an idea for an AP level activity, demonstration, lab, lesson, or project related to one of the Topics and Learning Objectives listed below:
*Note that submissions must address at least one of the learning objectives listed below, but additional LO’s – either from the list below or from other units/topics – can be incorporated into the resource as well.*
Unit 2: Compound Structure and Properties
- Topic 2.4 Structure of Metals and Alloys
- 2.4.A Represent a metallic solid and/or alloy using a model to show essential characteristics of the structure and interactions present in the substance.
Unit 3: Properties of Substances and Mixtures
- Topic 3.5 Kinetic Molecular Theory
- 3.5.A. Explain the relationship between the motion of particles and the macroscopic properties of gases with: a. The kinetic molecular theory (KMT). b. A particulate model. c. A graphical representation.
- Topic 3.6 Deviation from Ideal Gas Law
- 3.6.A. Explain the relationship among non-ideal behaviors of gases, interparticle forces and/or volumes.
- Topic 3.8 Representations of Solutions
- 3.8.A. Using particulate models for mixtures: a. Represent interactions between components. b. Represent concentrations of components.
In the spirit of this opportunity, an "original" teaching resource should be an authentic creation by the participating teacher. For example, it should not be an adaptation from a published source such as a Flinn kit, a published textbook, or the AP Classroom (from the College Board).
Guidelines
- Be an AACT member. Not a member? Join now!
- Submit your teaching idea through the entry form below.
- Be willing and able to put your idea into the AACT template if chosen.
- *Please review the AP Section of the AACT library to confirm that your resource idea is different from others that have already been published.
How to Submit
- Please complete the entry form below.
- You will be required to summarize an original AP level teaching resource idea aimed at teaching one of the Topics and Learning Objectives identified above.
- You may submit more than one entry.
- If selected, you will be asked to put your idea into the AACT template.
- Upon completion of the submission process, you will earn a $200 gift card and your resource will be published in the AACT classroom resource library.
Submission ideas will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and a select number of teaching resources will be accepted. Any teacher that submits an idea that is accepted will earn a $200 gift card upon completion of the submission process!
