Teaching Music History Conference 2025 Proposal Submission Form

Please use the following form to submit your proposal for the 2025 AMS Teaching Music History Conference.
 
The conference will be held between 20–22 June 2025 at New York University. If you have questions about the conference or the proposal process, please contact the AMS Office at ams@amsmusicology.org.
 
Presenters should plan to deliver their work in person at the conference. However, a limited number of slots for virtual presentations will be available.
 
Proposals are due by 11:59pm PT on 10 March 2025. Decisions will be announced in April 2025.

Proposal Type *

Individual Paper Submission Details
Please submit the materials for your individual paper proposal below. You will need to provide:
 
1) Your paper title
2) Your paper abstract (max 250 words)
 
Details: Each paper will be 20 minutes, with 10 minutes allotted for questions and discussion afterwards.

Please submit the materials for your works-in-progress proposal below. You will need to provide:
 
1) Your teaching demonstration title
2) Your teaching demonstration proposal (max 250 words)

Panel Discussion Submission Details
Please submit the materials for your panel discussion below. You will need to provide:
 
1) Panel format (30 or 60 minutes)
2) Panel Discussion Abstract (500 words including brief descriptions of individual presentations when applicable)
 
Details: Proposals should provide both a rationale for the session as a whole and brief descriptions of individual presentations if applicable. The Pedagogy Study Group encourages panel organizers to bring togeter panelists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, affiliations, career stages, and perspectives.
