Michelle Traina Riecke Teaching Fellowship Application - 2010   Fellowship Application Instructions   Welcome to the Riecke Teaching Fellowship application for the summer of 2010.   Riecke Fellowship recipients are afforded the opportunity to participate in a summer professional development experience that leads to improvements in practice, curriculum, and student achievement. Applicants may request up to $3000 for an individual teacher, or $5000 for a team of two or more teachers. Recipients of a Riecke Fellowship will be required to exercise professional leadership by sharing their newly acquired knowledge with their colleagues.   Fellowships will be awarded based on the guidelines set forth in the Mission and Vision statements, and with an appreciation of SOMSD curriculum requirements and district goals:   Mission: The Michelle T. Riecke Teaching Fellowship is an endowed fellowship that awards yearly grants to educators in the South Orange-Maplewood School District (SOMSD) who wish to pursue an educational experience that can be directly applied to their creative teaching practices, and upon completion of the course of study, can be shared with additional SOMSD educators. Vision:   •              To infuse SOMSD educators with a passion to educate the students in our school district using innovative and creative teaching practices, in both a traditional classroom setting and beyond the classroom. •              To share newly acquired ideas, practices, and materials with fellow district educators so that knowledge gained will be used for the benefit of students throughout the school district.   For additional guidance on locating fellowship opportunities refer to the “5 Tips for Finding Professional Development Opportunities” on the Riecke Fellowship page of the SOMEF website (www.somef.org).    Fellowship applications for the summer of 2010 must be submitted electronically by Friday, March 26, 2010.
